In short that quest line would explain the following for us:
However a hint could be gained by searching the area. Upon getting there, we have a final battle with an old but powerful thief who had conspired with Lyndon’s sister-in-law and upon defeating him he reveals that he knows nothing of the siblings whereabouts. While we’re unable to find the man’s siblings, we do find a hint of a location that they may be at, which happens to be the same area where Lyndon had met his sister-in-law for the ambush. Whether the trap would be successful or not, we wouldn’t know until after we complete the questline the same goes for whether we can reunite the man with his siblings.
Throughout the questline we may learn from the man’s father (Lyndon’s brother btw) was killed by his mother (Lyndon’s sister-in-law) years ago and that his mother was a part of a splinter group of the Thieves guild and had killed the man’s father as an attempt to draw his uncle, a former member of the Thieves Guild, into a trap. For example, say there’s a quest line in Diablo 4, where we help a man reunite with his siblings. They may be dead or old in Diablo 4, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t learn what happen from it. By the time of D4 they might be dead or at least very old.
